Arteebahen Patel

Microbiology Supervisor – Laboratory @ Phoenixville Hospital

“There is nothing more invigorating than knowing that my daily actions and that of my team members are making an impact on patients”

What is your favorite part of your job?

Helping my colleagues and learning new things everyday. I enjoy collaborating with other departments, showing students and residents how our lab operates and why we do certain tests for specific disease states. There is nothing more invigorating than knowing that my daily actions and that of my team members are making an impact on patient safety, outcomes and progress to a healthier state, all behind the scenes.

Who inspires you and why?

My inspiration comes from my family. I’ve learned from a young age to always give your best at every moment whether professionally or personally. There should be no regrets and if you give 110% at all times, you know regardless of success or failure, you gave it your all and life goes on. This is so critical in healthcare especially in the lab where the patient’s care is in your hands. One wrong test result could be detrimental to the patient and the caregivers around them. Knowing this and keeping that mindset is what gets me going to do the best for my patients, colleagues and our community everyday.

What is your personal motto?

“It is better to aim high and miss than to aim low and hit.”

Always set higher expectations to challenge yourself to greater limits. I’m a firm believer that failure is not the opposite of success; it’s part of success!
